NAB may present Kamran Michael before court today: sources
KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team is likely to produce former federal minister for ports and shipping, Kamran Michael, before the court here on Tuesday.
According to sources, NAB may present Michael before the court in Karachi today in a case pertaining to misappropriation in contracts while heading the ministry.
A day earlier, the NAB officials interrogated the former minister about a man named Imran Shah, who had given a statement against Michael.

The ex-minister was also questioned about amount in his accounts in disproportion to his income. “I’ve no idea how the money was transferred [into my accounts],” sources quoted Michael as answering the query by the NAB officials.
On Feb 9, an accountability court of Lahore granted five days’ transit remand of Kamran Michael to the NAB) in a case of abuse of authority.
The accountability watchdog had requested the court for a transit remand of five days for the former minister.
Charges against Michael
The former minister is accused of illegally allotting three commercial and residential apartment plots at prime locations of KPT Cooperative Housing Society in Karachi to his favourite persons after allegedly receiving a huge sum.
According to a NAB officials, the former minister abused his authority by making allotments of plots in 2013, adding that the plots had value of over Rs 1 billion.
Kamran Micheal remained the minister for ports and shipping between 2013 and 2016. He had held several portfolios in cabinets during different governments.
The NAB had launched a probe against Kamran Michael for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income in May 2018.
