Thunderbolt strike claims four lives in Kohat, four injured

KOHAT: A strike of thunderbolt during rainy weather claimed four lives in Sorgul area of Kohat district, ARY News reported on Thursday.

According to details, thunderbolt strike in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Kohat district damaged a high voltage electricity transmission line, which fall on houses causing fire in several homes of villagers.

At least four persons including two women died in the fire caused by 11,000 volt transmission line, while four others were injured in the incident, local officials said.

The local officials and rescue agencies transported the injured and bodies to District Headquarters Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Kohat.

The incidents of lightning strikes usually happen in rainy weather in Pakistan causing harm to lives and properties if struck the populated areas.

In an incident of lightning strike at Pallam village in Madyan in Swat claimed the lives of at least five people in previous year.

Twenty homes were also destroyed in the incident as well.
